Itinerary
Springtime and Tulips in Holland Haarlem to Haarlem Sample Itinerary
SUNDAY Meet at Hotel de l'Europe in Amsterdam at 3:00 pm and transfer to 'La Nouvelle Etoile,' moored in the center of Haarlem. After a champagne welcome, a relaxing cruise to Zaandam before a gourmet dinner on board.
MONDAY After breakfast, drive to the reconstructed village of Zaanse Schans to see a working windmill and visit a clog maker and a cheese maker. The afternoon cruise is through the heart of Amsterdam, continuing along the Amstel River to Ouderkerk. Stop at a vodka distillery for a special tour with the owner.
TUESDAY An early excursion today to visit colorful Aalsmeer, the largest flower auction in the world. Back on board 'La Nouvelle Etoile,' cruise to the cheese capital of Gouda. After lunch, visit a local cheese farm with time to shop or take in the city's wonderful architecture, including the remarkable 16th-century stained glass at St. Janskerk.
WEDNESDAY Cruise to Rotterdam this morning, continuing to Delft for a visit to the pottery works where the exquisite porcelain is still painted by hand. After lunch, time at leisure to explore the old city center with its intricate tapestry of canals, cobbled streets and charming pedestrian bridges.
THURSDAY A morning canal cruise past Leiden, crossing the Brasemmer Lakes to Oude Wetering. Spend an incredible afternoon at the magnificent Keukenhof Gardens, a famous 79-acre park containing millions of colorful flowers.
FRIDAY Cruise back to Haarlem today to visit the Cruquius Museum, an historic pumping station that originally helped to drain the Haarlemmermeer, and the museum dedicated to the great Dutch portrait artist, Frans Hals. This evening, 'La Nouvelle Etoile' hosts a wonderful farewell dinner.
SATURDAY After breakfast, transfer back to Hotel de l'Europe in Amsterdam.
