SAVOIR FAIRE starts her barge cruise season in Holland to partake in the springtime celebration of tulips and flowers. With passengers on board for a Three Country Cruise, she then heads to France for the summer where she cruises the rivers from Paris to Burgundy to the Upper Loire to Champagne. A comfortable, spacious barge, Savoir Faire is a delight with her experienced crew and owners Chris and Fran Bennett on board as hosts extraordinaire.

Itinerary

 CHAMPAGNE CRUISE
Between Paris and Epernay

SAVOIR FAIRE will cruise in the Champagne Region in the glorious month of September. This is an ideal time to cruise in this delightful region! You'll visit the Chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte; World War I battlefields; a Brie cheese maker, the Cathedral at Reims, where the Kings of France were crowned and a highlight, the very centre of Champagne - Epernay.

Sunday
You are met at the hotel and driven to the SAVOIR FAIRE, moored in the heart of Paris. After a champagne welcome and a tour of the SAVOIR FAIRE, we leave our mooring to position ourselves for a floodlit cruise of Paris, where the city's floodlit monuments and the Eiffel Tower unfold from a privileged perch on the panoramic deck.

Monday
Morning cruise out of Paris onto the river Marne. After lunch, you visit the magnificent Chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte. Rejoin the SAVOIR FAIRE in Meaux in time to stroll around town and visit the cathedral. 

Tuesday
Morning cruise from Meaux to La Ferte. An afternoon visit to a master cheese ripener for a tasting of the various bries. We shall also explore other sites of interest in the surrounding area.

Wednesday
You are now in the very heart of the Champagne region, cruising up to Charly-sur-Marne and our overnight mooring at Chateau Thierry, the scene of American battles in World War I. Visit to Belleau Wood battlefield and neighbouring villages. 

Thursday
The Marne takes you through vine-covered hills dotted with small villages to the delightful little town of Damery. Afternoon visit to Epernay and the underground champagne cellars of Moet and Chandon. 

Friday
We take a brief cruise along the upper reaches of the river Marne to the wine village of Cummieres. Afternoon visit to the Cathedral at Reims, where the Kings of France were crowned. Farewell Captain's Dinner on board. 

Saturday
After breakfast you are driven to your Paris hotel or the airport.
