Itinerary
CHAMPAGNE CRUISE Between Paris and Epernay
SAVOIR FAIRE will cruise in the Champagne Region in the glorious month of September. This is an ideal time to cruise in this delightful region! You'll visit the Chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte; World War I battlefields; a Brie cheese maker, the Cathedral at Reims, where the Kings of France were crowned and a highlight, the very centre of Champagne - Epernay.
Sunday You are met at the hotel and driven to the SAVOIR FAIRE, moored in the heart of Paris. After a champagne welcome and a tour of the SAVOIR FAIRE, we leave our mooring to position ourselves for a floodlit cruise of Paris, where the city's floodlit monuments and the Eiffel Tower unfold from a privileged perch on the panoramic deck.
Monday Morning cruise out of Paris onto the river Marne. After lunch, you visit the magnificent Chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte. Rejoin the SAVOIR FAIRE in Meaux in time to stroll around town and visit the cathedral.
Tuesday Morning cruise from Meaux to La Ferte. An afternoon visit to a master cheese ripener for a tasting of the various bries. We shall also explore other sites of interest in the surrounding area.
Wednesday You are now in the very heart of the Champagne region, cruising up to Charly-sur-Marne and our overnight mooring at Chateau Thierry, the scene of American battles in World War I. Visit to Belleau Wood battlefield and neighbouring villages.
Thursday The Marne takes you through vine-covered hills dotted with small villages to the delightful little town of Damery. Afternoon visit to Epernay and the underground champagne cellars of Moet and Chandon.
Friday We take a brief cruise along the upper reaches of the river Marne to the wine village of Cummieres. Afternoon visit to the Cathedral at Reims, where the Kings of France were crowned. Farewell Captain's Dinner on board.
Saturday After breakfast you are driven to your Paris hotel or the airport.
Note: This is a sample itinerary. Itineraries are flexible and may be changed according to passenger requests and local conditions. The itinerary is in the reverse direction every other cruise week. |
