"We had resisted booking a cruise for many years, largely because of the size of most cruise ships and of the opportunity to over-eat at the buffet style restaurants. I am quite sure I do not have enough will power to pass up great food and would want to sample widely. When we learned a little about canal barge cruises and the intimate and slower paced life style available we investigated further. We found Beth Hanson to be extremely helpful in guiding us to find the right cruise for us. In addition she kept us informed of changes in staff and itineraries of the Saint Louis barge cruise we chose. We were advised and reassured about the change in proprietorship and also about the fact that a TV crew wanted film a documentary about foreign tour companies operating in France, using the Saint Louis as an example. Since we had booked our cruise several months in advance and since the filming opportunity arose after we had booked, we could have refused. In the end, we were not inconvenienced with the filming and it even offered some entertainment on our second day of cruising. We are looking forward to receiving our DVD copy of the final result.
"We have particularly liked how Beth followed up with many helpful suggestions for reading resources and accommodations for before and after our cruise. Her checklists of what to bring (and what not to bring!) made planning much easier. We could see the difference when we compared the booking and planning experiences of the other guests on board who did not use Beth. We encountered a problem confirming details of our Paris apartment that we had booked through VRBO and when I contacted Beth she immediately offered to phone on our behalf the Paris apartment rental company even though she had not booked it for us.
